There were just two shots in it on Friday, but Ashleigh Buhai’s second consecutive round of three-over 75 was not enough to see her into the weekend on the women’s major, the ANA Inspiration at Rancho Mirage in California.

She will probably look back on the double-bogey she made on the par-four sixth as the point at which she missed the cut, but five other bogeys on the tough set-up were probably as much to blame. She made four birdies during an up-and-down round.

The tournament is led by Nelly Korda who was flawless for the second consecutive round. She made five birdies in her five-under 67 to go with her opening 66. That took her to a two-stroke lead at 11-under of Korea’s Mirim Lee, with America’s Lexi Thompson lurking dangerously at seven-under.
