While he slipped fractionally down the leaderboard to a share of 18th, it was a third consecutive four-under-par 68 for Charl Schwartzel on Saturday in the Safeway Open at Napa in California.

He made two birdies on each nine for a fault-free scorecard as he gets the 2020-21 season on the PGA Tour underway, and, while that wasn’t enough to get him closer to the top of the leaderboard, it showed that the 2011 winner of the Green Jacket  is in good shape ahead of the delayed Masters which will be played late this year at Augusta National in November.

The tournament is headed by Brain Stuard heading into the final round. He shot a six-under 66 to share the lead with James Hahn at 16-under, four shots clear of Schwartzel.

Branden Grace also carded a third-round 68, bouncing back from an ordinary second round of one-under 71. That lifted him 18 places on the leaderboard into a share of 36th on nine-under-par.
