A fast finish by Ashleigh Buhai on Saturday saw her card a four-under-par 68 as she moved to five-under for the tournament and into the top 20 of the Cambia Portland Classic in Oregon on the L{GA Tour.

She started her round on the back nine, and bogeyed the 11th before birdies on 12 and 14 saw her move to under par for the round and the start of her move. Another bogey on 16 was redeemed by a birdie on 17 ahead of the turn.

It was on her homeward nine that she ratcheted up the pressure with birdies on one, seven and eight as she came home in 33.

The tournament is being led by England’s Mel Reid, who added a superb second-round 65 to her opening 67 to lead by two on 12-under. First-round leader Hannah Green of Australia carded a 60 to move to 10-under in the tournament which has been trimmed to three rounds instead of four because of the fallout from the bushfires in the western United States.

A good finish by Buhai will push her towards the top 50 in the Race to CME Globes season. She is currently in 59th, with Lee-Anne Pace in 74th.
