Frittelli just 1 back from Thomas

Dylan Frittelli missed out on a share of the lead on Friday in the PGA Tour’s ZOZO Championship @ Sherwood in Thousand Oaks, California, when he bogeyed the final hole to give Justin Thomas a one-stroke lead going into the weekend.

He was gunning for a 64 to join Thomas at the top of the leaderboard, but a wayward drive on 18 saw him having to chip out sideways, hitting his third into the right rough, before chipping on and making bogey.

Frittelli has made a small adjustment in recent weeks, and that seems to have propelled him into contention. “I made a little mental switch,” Frittelli said. “It’s a little thing I read in a book. It’s called Legacy. It has got to do with mindset of the All Blacks, obviously one of the best teams in the world, a little thing in there that I found.”

The other South African in the field, Shaun Norris, battled his way to  a one-over 73 in the second round to leave him at three-under for the tournament, a long way back from Thomas’ 14-under at halfway.
