Retief Goosen finished strongly on Sunday with a six-under-par 65 in the final round of the PGA Tour Champions’ Charles Schwab Cup Championship to move to nine-under for the tournament in a share of fifth place.
There was no winner of the tournament after six extra holes were played between Paul Broadhurst of England and Kevin Sutherland of the United States. The pair will return on Monday to sort out the unfinished business.
Goosen climbed 14 spots on the leaderboard with his eight birdies and a double bogey, and he shared fifth with countryman Ernie Els, who made seven birdies and a double on his way to a closing 66.
The other South African in the field was David Frost, and he carded his third consecutive round of level-par 71 to finish in a share of 43rd.
