Birdies were a little harder to come by for Ashleigh Buhai on Friday as she posted a second-round score of two-over-par 72 to reach halfway in the LPGA Tour’s Pelican Women’s Championship in Florida in a share of ninth place.
She followed her opening round of four-under-par with four bogeys and two birdies to end up six strokes behind leader Sei Young Kim of Korea, who signed for a five-under 65 and had a two-stroke lead over America’s Ally McDonald. First-round leader Sophia Popov of Germany was in a share of third after carding a level-par 72.
Buhai started her round on the 10th, and immediately dropped a shot. She picked it up again on the 13th, and bogeys on 15 and 18 were offset by a birdie on 17. Her homeward nine was a little less eventful, with just a single dropped shot on the second and pars for the rest.
