It was a good day for Ashleigh Buhai on Sunday as she fired a bogey-free three-under-par 67 to finish in 10th place in the LPGA Tour’s Pelican Women’s Championship.
She finished the tournament on five-under, nine shots behind world number two Sei Young Kim of Korea, who was three shots clear of America’s Ally McDonald.
Buhai made birdies on six, nine and 10, as she climbed four places on the LPGA’s Race to CME Globe to inside the top 20 in 19th spot.
She remained in 72nd on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, while Kim edged closer to the number one spot. “It means a lot because world ranking number one is my wish list in this year, so that’s my biggest goal in this year,” Kim said.
On the PGA Tour, Branden Grace finished strongly in the RSM Classic in Georgia, closing with a six-under-par 64 to climb into a share of 30th behind winner Robert Streb, who beat Kevin Kisner in the second extra hole in a play-off.
Grace was bogey-free in the final round, picking up four birdies – on one, three, five and seven on the outward nine, and on 15 and 17 coming home. It was a week of good putting for Grace, and the difference for him in the final round came as he made 14 of 18 greens in regulation.
Rory Sabbatini – now of Slovakia – finished in a share of 12th after his closing 65.
