Retief Goosen got it to three-under through 10 holes in his second round on Friday in the PGA Tour Champions’ Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai in Hawaii, but then three bogeys on his way home saw him sign for a one-under 71.

That saw him lose his position at the top of the leaderboard to Jerry Kelly, who carded a five-under 67 to move to 13-under for the tournament. Goosen was at 11-under after his superb opening 10-under, while Darren Clarke stayed in second with his 68 seeing him join Kelly in the lead, two clear of Goosen.

Ernie Els signed for a second successive three-under 69, moving to six-under for the tournament in a share of 15th place, seven off the lead ahead of Saturday’s final round.

Goosen is one clear of Fred Couples and Kevin Sutherland.
