Dylan Frittelli opened his 2021 campaign on the PGA Tour on Thursday with a two-under-par 70 in the opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California.

He made four birdies and two bogeys to end the day in a share of 48th place behind the first-round leaders Patrick Reed of the United States and Sweden’s Alex Noren, who each carded eight-under-par 64 for a one-stroke lead over Scottie Scheffler.

Also on two-under was Charl Schwartzel, who also made four birdies and two bogeys. Louis Oosthuizen made an eagle three on the par-five sixth, but two bogeys and a single birdie left him at level-par together with former South African Rory Sabbatini.

Erik van Rooyen started his round on the 10th, and he turned in one-over after a bogey on the 16th. Another dropped shot on the third was followed by a double on the fourth. He regained his equilibrium with birdies on the sixth and ninth, but he was left on two-over and 10 strokes off the lead in a share of 119th at the end of the day.
