In a quiet week for South African golfers – there was no action on the European Tour, and only Branden Grace played on the PGA Tour – there was little change for them on the Official World Golf Ranking.
Garrick Higgo, who started the year in 90th position, and has subsequently slipped out of the top 100, was not in action, but still managed to edge up to 101st, one position up from the previous week.
Grace, by dint of his solid week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where he finished in a share of 34th at five-under-par, 13 shots behind the winner Daniel Berger, also climbed one spot of a few weeks of inaction to 145th.
South Africa’s top-ranked golfer remains Louis Oosthuizen, down two spots this week in 26th, and there are five players inside the top 100. With the first of the World Golf Championship events taking place next week – the Workday Championship at the Concession in Florida, Christiaan Bezuidenhout remains the only South African other than Oosthuizen inside the top 50 to qualify by his ranking for that tournament.
The South African top 10 is:
- Louis Oosthuizen 26 (down 2)
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout 36 (unchanged)
- Erik van Rooyen 60 (unchanged)
- Dylan Frittelli 66 (down 1)
- George Coetzee 79 (unchanged)
- Garrick Higgo 101 (up 1)
- Brandon Stone 108 (up 2)
- Shaun Norris 116 (down 1)
- Branden Grace 145 (up 1)
- Daniel van Tonder 155 (down 2)
