Retief Goosen carded a final-round two-under-par 71 n Sunday to finish in a share of 11th in the PGA Tour Champions tournament, the Cologuard Classic in Tucson Arizona.
He completed the 54-hole tournament on seven-under-par, finishing eight shots behind the winner, Kevin Sutherland of the United States. Sutherland overtook Canada’s Mike Weir with his closing four-under-par 69, while Weir signed for a level-par 73. Steve Stricker closed fastest of all with his five-under 68 to finish in share of third with countryman Scott Parel.
Goosen got it to three-under with a flawless opening nine that included three birdies, but bogeys on 11 and 18, together with a birdie on 12, saw him go one-over on that nine.
Ernie Els signed for a one-under 72 to finish one stroke behind Goosen in a share of 14th. He made a birdie and two bogeys on the outward nine, and three birdies and a bogey on his way home.
David Frost closed with a three-over 76 to end up in a share of 67th in the 81-man field.
