Dylan Frittelli was the big winner on Wednesday in the opening round of the World Golf Championship-Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas.

He defeated world number 13 Tony Finau of the United States 6 & 5 to match the two othe rbig wins of the day, in which Ian Poulter disposed of Rory McIlroy by that margin, and Webb Simpson defeated Talor Gooch 6 & 5.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout, seeded number 33, tied with Joaquin Niemann of Chule, who is seeded 26 in a good start to the event.

Louis Oosthuizen, the 22nd seed, went down 2 &1 to defending champion Kevin Kisner of the United States, and Erik van Rooyen suffered a fairly heavy defeat, going down 6 & 4 to Daniel Berger of the United States.
