His second bogey-free round in a row saw Hayden Griffiths to a comfortable five-stroke win in the Bushveld Tour’s two-day event at Ebotse Links.
Griffiths, who missed out on qualifying for the Cape Town Open on the Sunshine Tour on Monday, made four birdies in a row from the par-five fifth to take a stranglehold on the top spot, and birdies on the par-four 14th and the closing par-five 18th saw him safely home over runner-up Christiaan Burke, who went one-under in the second round. Jason Roets was third, Michael Kok fourth and Aubrey Beckley and Kyle de Beer shared fifth.
Griffiths actually trailed by one after the first hole, when Burke made birdie to edge clear after they shared the 18-hole lead. Griffiths made his first birdie on five, which was matched by Burke, who still held that one-stroke edge, but three more birdies pulled Griffiths clear as Burke made just one in that stretch.
Burke faltered on a four-hole stretch on the back nine, with bogeys on 11, 12 and 14, giving Griffiths breathing space, and he cruised home.
