Ashleigh Buhai gave herself a shot on Thursday at making the knockout phase of the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a superb 1-up victory over world number five Brooke Henderson.
After going down by a similar margin to Angela Stanford of the United States in the opening round, Buhai, ranked number 69 in the world, stood firm against the Canadian major champion to take her record to 1-1-0 heading into the final round of the round-robin portion of the tournament.
For Buhai, it’s win or bust against world number 194 Jenny Coleman of the United States in Friday’s third round, and she will be rooting for Henderson to finally come good in her match against Stanford after the Canadian has lost two matches in a row.
