She gave no signs that she was going to go low on her front nine, but Nicole Garcia came storming home with a five-under-par 67 on Saturday to climb into a share of seventh in the second round of the Ladies European Tour’s Tipsport Czech Ladies Open.

Garcia started her round at Golf Club Beroun in the Czech Republic on the 10th, and, with three birdies and three bogeys, she turned in level-par after completing her opening round of two-under-par 70. But she made five birdies without dropping a shot from the first on her way home, picking up her first shot on the second, then making three birdies in a row from the fifth, and finishing with a flourish on the par-four ninth with her final birdie.

Her seven-under-par total puts her just three shots behind the leader Nuria Iturrioz of Spain. Iturrioz has a one-stroke lead over Germany’s Leonie Harm and Isabelle Boineau of France.

Just one shot behind Garcia on six-under for the tournament was Lee-Anne Pace in a share of 12th, and four off the lead. Pace carded a second-round two-under 70 to go with her opening 68.

Stacy Bregman and Lejan Lewthwaite missed the cut after rounds of 73 and 78 respectively.
