Ernie Els closed with a two-over-par 72 on Sunday to finish the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship in fifth place at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
Els made two birdies and four bogeys as he finished the senior major championship on two-over, nine strokes behind Steve Stricker, who led from start to finish. Stricker on seven-under was six strokes clear of Jerry Kelly in second, while Fred Couples and David Toms shared third on level-par for the tournament. Els finished a shot clear of Jim Furyk.
Retief Goosen closed with a four-over 74 to finish on 10-over-par in a share of 28th, with David Frost carding eight-over for his 17-over total in 58th.
