Two birdies on 18 put Team Pace in pole position on Thursday as they hold a one-shot lead at the end of the first day of the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series-London.
Anne-Lise Caudal holed out on the last, while amateur James Carson Heard also made a birdie to put their team into the lead on 16-under-par.
Team captain Lee-Anne Pace posted a bogey-free round of five-under-par (68) to be tied for fourth individually, while Carolin Kauffman posted three-under-par (70) for a share of eighth. Leonie Harm of Germany led on six-under with Kelsey MacDonald of Scotland and Anne van Dam of the Netherlands.
South Africa’s Pace, who won the 2021 LET season opener, the South African Women’s Open, said: “It was really good. It is so great to play in this format. You just kind of go for everything and go for the birdies. I think it inspired me. Carolin (Kauffman) made so many putts out there, Anne-Lise had the chip-in on the last hole and then our amateur James came in with three birdies on the last nine, so that was huge for us.”
In the individual scoring, Nicole Garcia carded a level-par 73, Stacy Bregman a five-over 78 together with Nobuhle Dlamini of Swaziland, and Lejan Lewthwaite was on six-over 79.
