Frittelli opens John Deere Classic defence with 3-under

Dylan Frittelli opened his long-delayed defence of his John Deere Classic title on the PGA Tour on Thursday with a three-under-par 68 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois to end the day in a share of 29th.

Frittelli made five birdies and two bogeys in his round, and was five shots off the lead held by Colombian Sebastian Munoz and Chesson Hadley of the United Stated at eight-under. They had a one-stroke lead over Camilo Villegas of Colombia, and Americans Chez Revie and Hank Lebioda.

Elsewhere, on the Korn Ferry Tour, Tyrone van Aswegen opened the TPC Colorado Championship with a two-under-par 70 before play was suspended for darkness. He was seven shots behind the leader Taylor Moore of the United States. Dawie van der Walt was one-under.
