Paul Reto continued her good form on the LPGA Tour on Thursday as he followed a poor first round in the Marathon LPGA Classic in Sylvania, Ohio with a superb six-under-par 65 to climb 105 places on the leaderboard into a share of 28th.
After her opening two-over 73, she started fast in her second round from the 10th hole with a birdie on her first hole of the day. A run of five pars was followed by her second birdie on the 16th, and then came the big confidence-booster as she eagled the par-five 17th to get her score into red figures. Immediately after the turn, she picked up two more birdies in the next three holes. Unfortunately, she dropped shots on the fourth and fifth, but she regained those strokes with birdies on seven and eight.
On four-under for the tournament, she is eight shots off the lead held by Japan’s Nasa Hataoka, who followed her superb opening 10-under 61 with a more sedate two-under 69. She leads by two from Mina Harigae of the United States. Americans Alison Lee and Elizabeth Szokol share third a further shot back on nine-under.
Ashleigh Buhai shot a second-round of one-under 71, but missed the cut by one on one-over for the 36 holes.
