Daffue in solid start on PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship

South African MJ Daffue, now resident in Kingswood, Texas, took advantage of the modified stableford format on Thursday with his opening round of three-under-par 68 scoring him eight points in the PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship in Truckee, California.

With eagles counting for five points, birdies two, pars none, bogey minus one and double minus three, Daffue made five birdies and two bogeys to be in a share of 21st after the first round, eight points behind the leader Joel Dahmen. Dahmen didn’t drop a shot on his way to 16 points with a 63, and he had a two-point lead over German Stephan Jaeger who had two eagles, three birdies and two bogeys in his 66.

Erik van Rooyen made four birdies and a bogey on his way to a 68 and seven points and a share of 27th, while Branden Grace had for birdies and two bogeys for his 69 and six points and a share of 37th.
