Amateurs Yurav Premlall and Casey Jarvis led the chase to hunt down the first-round leaders on Wednesday in the second round of the Big Easy IGT Challenge Tour’s Team Championship being played at State Mines Golf Club.
The pair carded a 10-under-par 62 betterball score to move to 19-under-par for the tournament, just one shot behind Pieter Moolman and Ryan Tipping, who added a second-round of seven-under 65 to their opening 59.
Premlall and Jarvis didn’t drop a shot as they stitched together a pair of nines of 31 to match the opening nine of Moolman and Tipping, who could manage just two birdies between them on the way home as they saw their lead getting cut.
Also firing a 10-under 62 was the duo of Kyle McClatchie and Caylum Boon, who moved into third place ahead of the final round on 18-under-par, two shots off the lead. They are joined in third by Mickael Kok and Vaughan van Deventer, who carded a nine-under 63 in the second round to go with their opening round of 63.
