Hennie du Plessis finished in a share of fifth on Saturday with a closing one-over-par 72 in the Challenge Tour’s Made in Esbjerg Challenge at Esbjerg Golfklub in Esbjerg, Denmark as he edged his way up the Challenge Tour rankings to 52nd.
He finished up on four-under-par for the tournament, four behind winner Ricardo Gouveia of Portugal, who signed off with a four-under-par 67 to move to eight-under and a three-stroke win over Dodge Kemmer of the United States, Swede Jesper Kennegard and Austria’s Niklas Regner. Du Plessis shared fifth with four other players.
Next best of the South Africans was Merrick Bremner who finished the week with a three-over 74 to end up on one-over for the tournament in a share of 28th. Ruan Conradie came back well in the final round with a one-under 70 to round off his week, taking him to three-over and a share of 39th.
