Shaun Norris carded a four-under-par 68 on Thursday on the Japan Golf Tour in the opening round of the Shigeo Nagashima Invitational Sega Sammy Cup at North Country Golf Club in Chitose, Japan to take up a share of 11th place.

He made five birdies and a bogey after starting his round on the 10th. He got things off to the best possible start with a birdie on his opening hole, but he dropped a shot on the par-five 13th. He made par all the way to the turn, and then he made four birdies without a dropped shot on his way home.

That put him three shots behind the lead which was held by Young-Han Song of Korean at seven-under. He had a one-stroke lead over four players on six-under. Norris was part of a group of 16 players on four-under, one behind five players sharing sixth place on five-under.

Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent also had a good start in the resumption of the Japan Golf Tour’s schedule, carding a three-under 69. Jbe’ Kruger went one-over in his first round.
