Scott Vincent picked up where he left off with an opening round of four-under-par 67 in the Japan Golf Tour’s Fujisankei Classic at Fujizakura Country Club in Yamanishi, Japan on Thursday in a fog-shortened first day’s play.
He made six birdies and two bogeys to be in a five-way share of the lead, but all the other players had yet to even reach halfway in their opening rounds.
He won his first tournament on the tour just last week in the Sansan KBC Augusta, and he’s riding a wave of confidence. But he’s not taking anything for granted. “I want to concentrate on each and every shot,” he said.
He started his round on the 10th, and made two straight bogeys on 11 and 12. “I told myself that there were many more holes to play, and I should shift my mindset and start over,” he said. “I kind of stumbled at first, but after that I played perfect.”
Shaun Norris was on level-par through 15 holes and Jbe’ Kruger was on two-over through six.
