Louis Oosthuizen slipped two places down the PGA Tour’s Tour Championship on Saturday when he carded a one-over-par 71 and he heads into the final round in 12th place.
He made four birdies and five bogeys to drop to seven-under for the tournament after he started the ‘seeded’ event on three-under-par, compared to the 10-under on which FedEx Cup leader Patrick Cantlay started. Cantlay is now on 20-under for the tournament, two ahead of Jon Rahm, with Justin Thomas on 15-under in third.
Oosthuizen started well with three birdies on the opening four holes, but he dropped a shot on each of the seventh and eighth. There were three more bogeys on 10, 12 and 14 before he righted the ship with a birdie on the 17th.
The other South African in the field is Erik van Rooyen, and he carded a third round of two-under 68 to climb off the bottom of the leaderboard into a share of 26th on level-par for the 30-man tournament. He started on level-par.
