Jbe’ Kruger held on to a share of the lead on Friday after the second round of the Japan Golf Tour’s ANA Open at the Sapporo Golf Club on the Wattsu Course in Hokkaido, Japan after carding a two-under-par 70.

He was joined in the lead at the halfway mark of the tournament by Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe, who posted a brilliant nine-under-par 63 to reach nine-under together with Kruger. They led by one from a group of eight players on eight-under, with six players just one more shot back on seven-under.

Kruger, who led the first round after a seven-under to open up, made an eagle, three birdies and three bogeys in a round that was characterised by great putting again. He had 27 putts in the first round, and 29 in the second, but the bogeys were a big difference between the two rounds. There might have been no three putts, but he wasn’t hitting as many greens in regulation as he did in the first.

For Vincent, the second round was a gem, with nine birdies and not a single dropped shot. His putting improved considerably from the first round to the second, with 26 putts on Friday after 32 on Thursday.
