Ashleigh Buhai carded a three-under-par 69 on Sunday to climb into a share of eighth in the rain-shortened LPGA Tour’s Cambia Portland Classic over 54 holes in West Lynn, Oregon.
Buhai made five birdies and two bogeys on her way to her second top-10 of the season on the tour, and her first since she finished in the same position since the Gainbridge LPGA at the end of February. The tournament was won by Korea’s Jin Young Ko, who also closed with a 69 to beat countrywoman Jeongeun Lee and American Su Oh by four strokes at 11-under.
Ko never blinked on Sunday, starting the day with a one-stroke advantage over Scotland’s Gemma Dryburgh. She made her first birdie at the seventh, with her lead growing to three strokes after Dryburgh made bogeys at three and six, and the lead grew to five with another birdie at the 10th.
Oh and Lee kept Ko in their sights, with Lee making eagle at 18 to pull within three at seven-under. But Ko, ever the confident putter, drained a 23-foot putt from the back of the green at 18 to punctuate the win.
Buhai, who has been on the LPGA Tour since 2008, is 80th in the Rolex ranking this week after her performance, and 67th in the Race to the CME Globe, the LPGA’s points list.
