Hennie du Plessis carded his second four-under-par 68 in a row on Friday in the Challenge Tour’s Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort in Óbidos, Portugal to be in a share of seventh at the halfway mark.
Du Plessis made an eagle, three birdies and a bogey to move to three shots off the lead which was held at 11-under by Norway’s Kristian Krogh Johannessen who had a five-under 67 in the second round. He led by one from Marcel Schneider of Germany, with four players a further shot back in a share of third on nine-under.
Jacques Kruyswijk followed his opening 68 with a one-under 71, and, at five-under, was in a share of 17th. Louis de Jager signed for a four-under 68, and was in a share of 27th. Bryce Easton and JC Ritchie were on level-par in 46th after rounds of 72 and 71 respectively.
Jacques Blaauw missed the cut after a one-over 73, as did Portugal’s Stephen Ferreira, who plays on the Sunshine Tour out of Zimbabwe. He also carded a 73.
