Ernie Els carded a three-under-par 69 on Saturday to climb into a share of 12th after the second round of the PGA Tour Champions Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach in Monterey, California.
The four-time major champions made seven birdies and four bogeys to reach four-under for the tournament. That put him five shots off the lead which was held by Korea’s KJ Choi. Choi led by one from Alex Cjeka of Germany and his countryman Bernhard Langer.
Retief Goosen had a level-par 72, and, at two-over for the tournament, missed the cut. So too did David Frost, who also had a level-par 72 to stay at five-over for the tournament.
