Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe opened his campaign on Thursday in the Japan Golf Tour’s Bridgestone Open with a four-under-par 67 to take up a share of eighth place after the first round at Sodegaura Country Club in Chiba, Japan.
Vincent, who has picked up his first two victories on the Japan Tour in the last little while, had a quiet front nine with a bogey on the second and a birdie on the eighth, but he made four birdies without dropping a shot on his homeward nine. That put him just two strokes off the lead which was held by Japan’s Ryutaro Nagano and Dong-Kyu Jang of South Korea.
Shaun Norris opened with a two-under-par 69 to be in a share of 27th, four shots off the lead, while Jbe’ Kruger had a first-round of three-over 74 to be down in a share of 88th in the 102-man field.
