With all the rain that has hit the Wild Coast Sun Country Club, the Sunshine Tour was forced to cancel the SunBet Challenge tournament that was scheduled to be played there this week.
The course was unplayable, and, even with a potentially favourable change in the weather looming, as well as a chance to push the final round of the 54-hole event to Saturday, a day after its scheduled close, there was no chance of getting a tournament done in the prevailing conditions.
Instead, the players have packed up and head off to the next tournament on the schedule, the 72-hole Blue Label Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City which boasts a prize fund of R1.5-million. The qualifying round for the tournament is set for Tuesday 12 October, with the tournament proper teeing off the next day.
