Ashleigh Buhai carded an opening round of four-over-par 76 on Thursday in the opening round of the LPGA Tour’s BMW Ladies Championship in Busan, South Korea as Korean players took early charge in the tournament.
Buhai made a birdie and five bogeys in her round which left her in a share of 79th place in the 84-player field. The tournament was led by Na Rin An who signed for an eight-under 64 for a one-stroke lead over countrywomen In Gee Chun and Ju Young Pak. In a share of fourth was American Danielle Kang together with Koreans Hae Ran Ryu and A Lim Kim.
The round was notable for world number two Jin Young Ko missing out on her attempt to shoot her 15th consecutive round in the 60s as she opened up with a one-under-par 71 for a share of 42nd. She’s currently tied with Annika Sorenstam and So Yeon Ryu on 14. Back in 2019, Ko set another impressive record, playing 114 consecutive holes without a bogey. That even snapped Tiger Woods‘ PGA Tour record of 110.
