Garrick Higgo equalled the low round of the day on Saturday as his six-under-par 65 in the third round of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on the PGA Tour took him back inside the top 10 ahead of the final round.
The South African left-hander shook off the effects of a double-bogey six on the 14th by unleashing a birdie spree with four in a row to conclude his round. At nine-under for the tournament, he was in a share of 10th, eight strokes behind the leader Taylor Pendrith of Canada. Pendrith’s 65 had him three shots clear of New Zealand’s Danny Lee, with Australia’s Lucas Herbert in third on 13-under.
Higgo started his round with a birdie on the first, and he bracketed a bogey on the fourth with birdies on three and five. There were two more gains on seven and nine as he turned in four-under 32. He dropped another shot on 10, but got back to four-under with a birdie on 12. The double dropped him to two-under for the round ahead of the final flourish.
Dylan Frittelli carded a second-successive one-under 70 to be five-under for the tournament in a share of 37th, while Christiaan Bezuidenhout was on four-under after his third-round 70 put him in a share of 43rd. Dawie van der Walt missed the cut.
