Burmester 4 back at halfway in DP World Tour Championship

Dean Burmester carded his second successive three-under-par 69 on Friday in the second round of the European Tour finale, the DP World Tour Championship on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

That took him to six-under-par at the halfway stage of the tournament, just four off the lead which was shared by Sam Horsfield of England, Shane Lowry of Ireland and American John Catlin. At 10-under, that trio had a one-stroke advantage over Rory McIlroy and Alexander Bjork of Sweden.

Burmester was in a share of 11th with Jamie Donaldson of Wales after making an eagle, four birdies and three bogeys.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout slipped to a three-over 75 in the second round and slid to a share of 31st on two-under for the tournament. He shared that spot with Garrick Higgo, who improved to a three-under 69 in his second round. Justin Harding had a level-par 72 to remain one-under for the tournament in a share of 38th.
