Former number-two South African amateur woman Zethu Myeki has been added to the list of some of South Africa’s top female professionals being supported by Investec

Having recently announced a renewal of their association with the Sunshine Ladies Tour for four years, Investec welcoimed Myeki to the brand that celebrates ‘Out of the Ordinary’. Investec currently sponsors Lejan Lewthwaite, Nicole Garcia and Stacy Bregman and now Zethu Myeki, as well as Irish player Stephanie Meadow.

“I started playing golf when I was 13,” said Myeki, “and it was love at first sight. I won many times as an amateur but winning my first pro title was indescribable; it was the greatest moment of my career. I am incredibly honoured that Investec has invested in me and my goals, allowing me to do what I love. It’s a dream come true to join the likes of Stacy, Nicole and Lejan in the Investec stable. I look forward to representing this powerhouse brand to the best of my ability with so many possibilities on and off the course.”

Peta Dixon, Investec’s head of sponsorships, said “Investec has seen the possibilities of the talented, level-headed and determined Zethu. She is certainly a rising star and possesses all the right ingredients to enjoy a most promising career. For many years now, Investec has invested in the next generation of women, and is committed to enabling more women to thrive. Like so many, Zethu has overcome multiple challenges and done so with strength, compassion and hard work. We believe that with the support and guidance of Investec, removing some of the financial obstacles, Zethu will thrive, performing with an unrivalled passion, absolute professionalism and tremendous pride – I have no doubt that she will show us what she’s made of.”

Eastern Cape-born Myeki joined the pro ranks in 2020 following a stellar amateur career that saw her rise to second in the GolfRSA Open Amateur rankings. As a GolfRSA National Squad member & Ernie Els Foundation graduate, Myeki represented South Africa seven times on the international stage, producing a career best top-10 in her final event, the prestigious Spirit International in the United States.

Myeki claimed her first pro win in the Vodacom Origins of Golf series in September 2021, thanks to carding an impressive 69 in challenging conditions on day two at Mount Edgecombe. Ranked 25th on the Sunshine Ladies Tour’s 2021 Investec Order of Merit, the Randpark Golf Club player –affectionately known as ‘Zee’ – is justifiably proud of this achievement, and all her other achievements.
