Dylan Frittelli finished the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational with a two-under-par 69 on Sunday as he climbed 15 places on the leaderboard into a share of 26th on six-under-par for the week at Riviera Country Club.
He made an eagle, four birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey as he ended up 13 shots off the winning pace set by Chile’s Joaquin Niemann, who closed with a level-par 71. That was enough to give him a two-stroke margin over second-placed Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young. Adam Scott and Viktor Hovland shared fourth on 14-under-par.
Frittelli made his eagle on the very first hole, as he chipped in from just over 35 feet from the fringe just behind the hole on the par-five. He followed it with a bogey, made birdie on four, and then had his double-bogey on the fifth. He three-putted after pulling his tee shot slightly left and long into the rough. A bogey on 10 was followed by three birdies on 11,13 and 17.
Erik van Rooyen battled to a closing two-over-par 73, which saw him slip 13 places down the leaderboard to a share of 39th on four-under-par. He had four birdies, four bogeys and a double on his card.
