Ashleigh Buhai got herself into contention on Friday with a two-under-par 70 in the third round of the LPGA Tour’s Lotte Championship in Hawaii, with her 54-hole total of four-under-par putting her in a share of eighth.
With three other players, Buhai is six shots off the lead which was held by Hyo Joo Kim of South Korea at 10-under. Kim carded a level-par 72 to have a three-stroke edge over American Brianna Do and Hinako Shibuno of Japan.
Buhai picked up a birdie on the third, and then held it together with pars all the way until the 12th, where she made her only bogey of the round. She picked up birdies on 14 and 15.
Paula Reto also made the cut, but she battled in her third round to an 11-over-par 83, with a triple-bogey, a double-bogey and six bogeys on a bad day at the office. She was on 11-over for the tournament after starting the day at level-par.
