MJ Daffue carded a one-under-par 70 on Friday in the third round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Veritex Bank Championship in Arlington, Texas, but it was not enough to stop him slipping to a share of 14th ahead of the final round.
Daffue battled on the front nine, making four bogeys – on the first, fourth, fifth and eighth. He reduced the damage somewhat with a birdie on the seventh, and he got things together again on the back nine with five birdies, and just a single dropped shot on the 11th.
At 12-under through 54 holes, Daffue is seven shots behind the leader, Chase Parker of the United States, who was on 19-under. Parker carded a third round of six-under-par 65 to lead compatriot Taylor Montgomery by one.
If Daffue maintains his present position, he is projected to drop one place to 15th on the Korn Ferry Tour standings. The top 25 players at the end of the season will win PGA Tour status.
