Tristen Strydom carded his second successive two-under-par 68 on Friday to climb into a share of ninth at the halfway stage of the Challenge Tour’s Emporda Challenge in Girona, Spain.

It was a bogey-free effort from the 2022 Sunshine Tour’s Tour Championship winner, with his birdies coming on seventh and 18th holes. At four-under, he’s four shots off the lead which is held by Jens Dantorp of Sweden, who blazed to an eight-under 62 in his second round. That saw him lead by one from Manuel Elvira of Spain, with Gary Stal of France and Euan Walker of Scotland sharing third on six-under.

Behind Strydom, Luke Jerling carded a level-par 70 in his second round to be in a share of 21st on two-under for the tournament. Jayden Schaper had a two-over 72 to be on level-par through 36 holes, right on the cut line and in a share of 47th.

Wilco Nienaber was pushed just below the cut at the last minute, and was at one-over after his one-over 71 in the second round. Jacques Blaauw and Deon Germishuys also just missed the cut at one-over, while Ruan Conradie’s six-over left him well adrift at seven-over for the tournament.
