Keegan MacLachlan closed with a two-under-par 70 on Thursday to win the ninth tournament of the 2022 Bushveld Tour Series which was played at Parkview Golf Club by one stroke.
It took a bold 18th hole for MacLachlan to eke out his victory, after he had slipped behind with a double-bogey six on the 16th. He bombed his drive to withing 55 metres of the green, and then stuffed his approach to two feet. He made the birdie putt, while one of the two runners-up, Luke Mayo, made bogey on that last hole. The other runner-up was Chris Long, who had a bogey on 17 disrupting a finishing streak of birdies which began on the on the 14th. Long birdied 18 too, but it was not enough to draw level with MacLachlan.
MacLachlan led the first round with his four-under-par 68, one clear of Mayo. Long was third with his 70. MacLachlan had six birdies, two bogeys and that wobbly double on his final-round card.
In fourth place was Jason Froneman on two-under after a closing 71, and last week’s winner, Dylan O’Leary had a one-over 73 to finish fifth at one-over for the tournament.
