While catching Jessica Korda might be a bridge too far for just about anyone in the field, Lee-Anne Pace at least had the satisfaction of climbing inside the top 20 on Friday in the second round of the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series event at La Reserva Club de Sotogrande in Spain.
Pace, whose team finished in a share of third in the 36-hole team competition – predictably behind the winning Team Jessica Korda – Pace produced a two-under-par 70 to climb into a share of 18th. At two-under for 36 holes, she is 13 shots behind Jessica Korda, who added a four-under 68 to her opening 11-under-par 61. That had her six strokes clear of Pauline Roussin of France and seven ahead of sister Nelly Korda. Ana Palaez Trivino of Spain was in fourth on seven-under, and Sweden’s Linn Grant and Manon De Roey of Belgium shared fifth on six-under.
Pace made a birdie on the ninth to turn in one-under, and then picked up an eagle on the par-five 13th. She bogeyed 17 to come home in level-par.
Stacy Bregman had a one-over 73 to be four-under for the tournament in a share of 58th, together with Nicole Garcia, who had a three-over 75.
Casandra Alexander missed the cut after battling to a six-over 78 in her second round.
