Jbe’ Kruger carded a six-under-par 66 on Friday in the second round of the Japan Golf Tour’s ANA Open at Sapporo Golf Club to climb into a share of 12th at the halfway stage.

Kruger started with a bogey on the first hole in his second round, but he soon put things to rights with a string of three successive birdies from the third to the fifth. He picked up two more ahead of the turn to turn in four-under, and he remained bogey-free for the remainder of the day with two birdies on the homeward nine.

He moved to eight-under for the tournament, eight shots behind the leader, Yuta Ikeda of Japan. Ikeda had an eight-under 64 in his second round to be one-shot clear of Shugo Imahara, who also had a 64 to move to 15-under ahead of the weekend.
