Led by Louis Oosthuizen, the all-South African Stinger GC was unable to get going in the final of LIV Golf’s Team Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami and finished well off the pace with a team total of 10-over-par.
Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel were the only two in the team to go under par, with one-under-par 71 each. Branden Grace had an eight-over 80 and Hennie du Plessis a four-over 76.
The championship was won by the favourites, Aces GC, with Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch and Pat Perez carding a total of 10-under-par to edge the Australian outfit, Punch GC, with Open champion Cam Smith, Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Wade Ormsby, by one shot.
The other all-American outfit, Smash GC, with Brooks and Chase Koepka, Jason Kokrak and Peter Uihlein, finished third on four-over.
The best individual score of the day came from Smith, who signed for a seven-under 65.
