MJ Viljoen finished solidly on Sunday with a three-under-par 69 in the closing round of the Asian Tour’s DGC Open and Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi, India lifting him into a share of 21st.
Viljoen had two rounds of 71 to open, and then slipped to a third-round 75 before his final round efforts lifted him up the leaderboard.
At two-under for the tournament, he was 10 strokes behind the winner, Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines. Tabuena edged Rashid Khan of India by one stroke with his closing round of seven-under-par 65.
The performance gives Viljoen a bit of a leg up on the Asian Tour Order of Merit into the top 100 – in 100th on the dot.
Ian Smyman closed with a three-over 75 for a share of 24th, and he is in 65th on the Order of Merit.
