Brandon Stone will head into the final round of the Challenge Tour’s Challenge de Espana at Club de Golf Playa Serena in Almeria, Spain just two shots off the lead after he carded his third successive three-under-par 67 on Saturday.
After a fast start with a birdie on the first and an eagle on the fourth, Stone overcame two bogeys on the fifth and eighth with birdies on the back nine on 13 and 17 to move to nine-under through 54 holes. That put him at fourth place on his own, with the lead being held by France’s Benjamin Hebert, who carded a five-under 65. Hebert was one clear of Italy’s Andrea Pavan and Kristoffer Broberg of Sweden. There were five players one stroke behind Stone in a share of fifth on eight-under.
Three strokes behind Stone, in a share of 18th, was Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith on five-under after his third round of two-under-par 68.
Keenan Davidse had a level-par 70 to remain at two-under for the tournament and in a share of 46th.
