Keenan Davidse had a five-under-par 65 for his final round on Sunday as he climbed to finish inside the top 20 in the Challenge Tour’s Challenge de Espana at Club de Golf Playa Serena in Almería, Spain.
His eagle, six birdies and three bogeys saw him climb 27 places on the final leaderboard to a share of 19th on seven-under for the week. He was five strokes outside the three-way play-off for first which was won on the third extra hole by French amateur Martin Couvra of France from Italy’s Andrea Pavan and Northern Ireland’s Dermot McElroy.
Davidse’s finish was better than Brandon Stone’s, who was just two shots off the lead going into the final round, but could only manage two birdies and three bogeys for his closing one-over-par 71. He finished on eight-under for the tournament in a share of 16th.
Also on eight-under was Zimbabwean Benjamin Follett-Smith.
