Adilson Da Silva was a step closer to winning the Legends Tour’s Order of Merit on Friday after a second round score of two-under-par 69 put him in the lead of the Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam at Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
The tournament is the second-last of the season, and, to hit the front from his current second spot, Da Silva needs to finish clear of leader Peter Baker of England.
And, despite a double-bogey seven on the sixth hole, Da Silva made five birdies in the second round to head into the final round of the 54-hole tournament on seve-under-par. That was two strokes ahead of former US Open champion Michael Campbell of New Zealand, who had a three-under 68 to move to five-under-par.
More importantly for Da Silva in the race for the Order of Merit crown, he was nine strokes clear of Baker, who had a second round of four-over-par 75 to be in a share of 17th heading into the final 18 holes.
James Kingston had a second round of four-under-par 67 to be seven-over for the tournament in a share of 38th, and Chris Williams crashed to a 12-over 83 and he was in a share of 54th on 12-over.
