Hennie du Plessis moved inside the world’s top 200 again on the Official World Golf Ranking over the weekend with his share of third in the Dimension Data Pro-Am lifting him 20 places into 194th.
In the process of his climb, he overtook Dylan Frittelli and became South Africa’s eighth-best golfer according to the official world list. His performance reversed a downward slide on the rankings which began when he missed the cut n the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek in December.
The other man inside the top 25 players in South Africa who had a substantial climb on the rankings after a solid Dimension Data Pro-Am showing with his share of sixth was Brandon Stone. He, too, is on an upward trend, and his 11-place climb to 401st saw him just another good showing away from getting inside the world’s top 400.
Zander Lombard was also up, climbing four places to another career-high of 96th as his summer of solid performances continues.
While Du Plessis was the biggest climber inside the South African top 25, he I some way off his career-high of 122nd, achieved in May 22 when he finished in a share of 15th in the DP World Tour’s Soudal Open.
South Africa’s top-ranked player remains Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who dropped one place after his share of 24th in the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational.
