Eric Wowor rounded off a consistent performance on Wednesday with a five-under-par 66 at Reading Golf Club to claim his second title on the Bushveld Tour’ series at the Race to Q-School #9.
Wowor made six birdies and a bogey to go with his opening round of 67 and his second round of 66 to move to 14-under-par for the 54-hole event. That was enough to hold off Jules Helary of France, who had carded a 10-under-par 71 in the second round, by one shot.
In the end, Helary made two bogeys on his front nine, and two more on the back nine. His three birdies on the back nine were not enough to limit the damage as Wowor stormed home with four successive birdies from the 12th hole to hit the front.
Amateur Louis Liebenberg, Joe Knox and Jason Froneman shared third on 12-under to make up the top five.
Wowor’s win vaulted him to second on the Race to Q-School Order of Merit, behind the leader and three-time winner, Werner Deyzel.
There are 13 tournaments in the series, which will be followed by the Tour Championship on May 2 at Ebotse.
