From Challenge Tour
Deon Germishuys, Frenchman Oihan Guillamoundeguy and Daniel Young of Scotland will share a three-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Big Green Egg German Challenge powered by VcG.
Young posted a six-under-par round of 66 to set the target at 13-under-par on Saturday, before Germishuys and Guillamoundeguy carded three-under 69s to join him at the top of the leaderboard at Wittelsbacher Golfclub.
Germishuys lost his DP World Tour card after finishing 125th on the Race to Dubai Rankings last season, however he is currently placed 14th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and poised to make a swift return to golf’s global tour.
“I’m really happy today,” he said. “I made some crucial par-putts on the front nine and then managed to get into a rhythm on the back nine which was important.
“If you are hitting fairways out here and dialled in with your irons you can definitely make some birdies on this course. The greens are rolling nicely and it’s about handling the pressure of being at the top of the leaderboard.
“It would be amazing to get my DP World Tour card back this year,” he said. “I miss playing on that level and my goal at the start of the season was to finish in that top 20 to regain my status.”
Guillamoundeguy made four birdies in his final five holes to climb the leaderboard, and the 19-year-old has now set his sights on a maiden Challenge Tour victory tomorrow.
Italian Gregorio De Leo sits in fourth place on 10-under-par, while countryman Pietro Bovari, South African Robin Williams, Frenchman Pierre Pineau and Denmark’s John Axelsen are a shot further back in fifth.
Louis Albertse slipped to a six-over-par 78 in the third round and will go into the final round in a share of 51st on two-over-par.
